April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, began taking guitar and piano lessons at age seven. She was interested in creating songs was sparked. The first song she wrote was called Different. She wrote it at 12 years of age. At the age of 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing and honed her musical ability. Soon, April began to take trips across NY and LA along with her dad in order for them both write songs. April began also to incorporate different topics related to some of her friends dealing in the area of peer pressure disabilities and even teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle blogger and working in partnerships with brands that are clean and healthy like Ilia, has built an impressive following. The disability she has is part of her persona, however it's not the entire picture. As a result Lockhart's Instagram page does not shy away from her disabilities, yet it's not focused on the issue either. The point? It is important to remember that each of us has numerous faces. Our identities vary and we're greater than the bodies we wear. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she does not want to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to be a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are many aspects of Lockhart. This doesn't interfere with my life. All is well and I have learned to adjust. But it's also a part of me and I feel that it's crucial to speak about. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends regarding self-acceptance. She admits that she has been through times when she felt insecure about the way she dressed and showed her arms. Now, though she dons whatever she wants and posts pictures of herself in these outfits on social networks with a sense of pride. For her, self-love is a long process. It's a fact that I see with everyone with whatever their insecurity is. It's vital to surround yourself those who can see and know your true heart.
